'Growing Pains' star and TV host Alan Thicke dies at age 69

'Growing Pains' star and TV host Alan Thicke dies at age 69

DiCaprio was just 18-years-old when he joined the show and was just getting his career started.

He also appeared in the soap opera "The Bold and the lovely", hosted "The Alan Thicke Show" daytime talk programme for three years, and tried his hand at a largely unsuccessful nighttime talk show called "Thicke of the Night" for one season beginning in 1983.

"Ronald Reagan is president and there's no war, maybe that creates an environment for a show like ours", he said.

On a set that featured a Vancouver skyline backdrop and some wicker furniture, Thicke interviewed a mix of Hollywood A-listers (Anthony Hopkins, Rodney Dangerfield, Merv Griffin), athletes (Wilt Chamberlain, Wayne Gretzky) and Canadian icons (Margaret Trudeau, Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruno Gerussi).

"Janet & I are deeply saddened to hear of Alan's passing".

"I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him". "I am so blessed to have grown up with him". Alan was a generous, kind and loving man. "I know some people say, 'It doesn't matter what they say as long as they're talking about you, '" Thicke said. But all too quickly, it was evident that Carson wasn't going to be dethroned, and the ambitious "Thicke" disappeared into the night after one season. Portraying the work-from-home psychiatrist Jason Seaver, who was raising a family with his wife (portrayed by Joanna Kerns), Thicke was tailor-made for the part, having studied psychology.

Thicke was also a lifelong hockey fan and player.

In the 1990s and beyond, Thicke stayed busy as a celebrity TV host and with guest shots on dozens of series, including "How I Met Your Mother" and, this year, the Netflix series "Fuller House" starring Candace Cameron Bure and the NBC drama "This Is Us". Will miss you so greatly.? He took credit for introducing the sport to celebrity friends.

"You were expected to play", he said in 1998.

Carter Thicke, 19, also took to social media to share his grief. Such a good husband, father, brother, and friend. In 2014, he also cocreated the "reality sitcom" about his family life called "Unusually Thicke", which ran for two seasons on Pop TV and costarred his wife Tanya Callau, who Thicke married in 2005.
