Check Out! BlackBerry Mercury Making Keyboards Specs Release Date

BlackBerry made the news official via a Twitter teaser which showcased a short GIF of the rumored DTEK70 hidden in shadows. TCL is finally expected to answer all the questions about the smartphone's specs, features, price and availability at its upcoming event. TCL has an ambitious plan to build a portfolio of Blackberry devices, spanning from the high end to more affordable, entry-level phones, and the Mercury (as it's referred to now) is the first one.

BlackBerry is teasing the launch of a new smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain next month.

TCL, the Chinese company that has been chosen by BlackBerry to launch its smartphones, had been teasing the QWERTY smartphone the Canadian company promise previous year for at least a month.

During the launch of this phone at the CES 2017 earlier this month, BlackBerry did not reveal the name and specifics of the handset, but thanks to quite a good number of rumors and leaks out there, it seems the device will be known as BlackBerry Mercury.

With the Mercury, the BlackBerry brand faces a hard battle.

It's also meant to feel a whole lot nicer than recent Blackberry efforts. It's commonly referred to as the Mercury but has also been tipped as the DTEK70, and could still turn out to be called something entirely different.

Other things it's firmly established include the Mercury's physical keyboard, similar to classic models by the brand, and a security-focused version of Android 7.0 Nougat. If this is the case, the new phone will need to offer something more, and a keyboard would fit the bill very nicely indeed. As for the processor, the BlackBerry Mercury could be powered by Snapdragon 635.

As we heard previously the BlackBerry Mercury will come with a full QWERTY keyboard and will feature a 4.5 inch display. If so, what's on your wish list for the device and what would be a deal-breaker?
