Chelsea to China - Costa 'wouldn't think twice'

The latest piece of news regarding Diego Costa will be greeted with a lot of apprehension by Chelsea fans.

"The Premier League is really competitive".

Marcos Alonso proved an unexpected replacement for the absent Diego Costa as Chelsea won 3-0 at Leicester City on Saturday to consolidate their position atop the Premier League table.

Spain worldwide Diego Costa has reportedly turned down an improved contract offer at Stamford Bridge.

Conte was also unsure about the severity of Costa's injury, though he hinted at an update in the coming week.

Costa, who has scored 14 Premier League goals in 19 appearances this season, will be assessed again on Tuesday to determine if or when he can rejoin first-team squad training.

Chelsea declined to comment on the story but Conte on Friday afternoon said he had some undisclosed doubts for the game against Leicester, mentioning no names or reasons for potential absences.

"I can tell you if there are problems - and I repeat "if" - with players, I am used to solving them in the changing rooms, not outside, not in press conferences", said Conte, who said he will assess Costa's fitness next week.

It was Conte who, after taking charge in the summer, convinced the striker to stay with the Blues and reject interest from his former club Atletico Madrid.

Conte said he was pleased with the way his side has responded after Tottenham Hotspur ended their 13-games winning run this month.

"Because today my players showed me a great performance, great spirit".

He said: "I'm pleased because after 13 wins in a row, and then after a defeat, it's always very hard to know the reaction of your team". I hate to say this but Tottenham are looking very good indeed right now, so finishing above them will be no easy task, but it is one that us fans and everybody at the club should feel confident in achieving.

The theory was that Chelsea would toil without Costa, especially as Michy Batshuayi is yet to convince Conte he is capable of deputising for the 28-year-old.

He said: "If you want to know the truth, I am ready to tell the truth. It's important for him to have a bit of time to go into our idea of football and adapt, and then be under consideration".

Huge Antarctic iceberg about to break off and slide into the sea
However, the coastal icebergs buttress the land-based ice and in their absence much more of that ice will flow into the sea. The real danger is from inland glaciers, held in place by the floating, cliff-like ice shelves that straddle land and sea.
