Azerbaijan's forces destroy Armenian drone - defense ministry

In a statement issued by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they said that Azerbaijan failed to uphold the 1994-1995 ceasefire agreements and inflicted "another blow to the efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries exerted towards the peaceful settlement".

Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Kamran Nabizade responded to the Armenian MP who at the assembly's winter session said that blogger Alexander Lapshin's extradition to Azerbaijan is "illegal".

Azerbaijani soldiers were killed in a ceasefire violation, the country's Defence ministry said without specifying the exact number of casualties. "We invite Armenia to follow the cease-fire rules and expect that heavy clashes will not occur again".

The Azeri defense ministry said the clashes had occurred early on Saturday in the remote Khojavend and Fizuli regions.

Reports recently disseminated by the Armenian side are a step aimed at disrupting the ongoing humanitarian operation, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense told APA on Monday.

Lapshin is accused of violating Azerbaijani laws on state border in April 2011 and October 2012. Armenian forces also occupied several Azerbaijani areas outside Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Azerbaijani side suffered losses as a result of fighting".

About 20 minutes later, the web site of Nagorno Karabakh's armed forces published its statement, claiming that the fighting was a result of Azerbaijani incursions attempted overnight in the eastern and southeastern sections of the LoC and that bodies of some the Azerbaijani servicemen remained in the no-man's land between the two sides. Three U.N. Security Council Resolutions (853, 874 and 884), and United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 19/13 and 57/298 refer to Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. Armenian forces also occupy several areas outside the Karabakh region. The clashes came on the 25th anniversary of the 1992 Khojaly massacre in Nagorno-Karabakh. The two-hour offensive killed 613 Azeri citizens, including 116 women and 63 children and critically injured 487 others, according to Azerbaijani figures.
