McConnell Says He Won't 'Critique' Trump's Comments On Putin, Voter Fraud

McConnell Says He Won't 'Critique' Trump's Comments On Putin, Voter Fraud

"I say it's better to get along with Russian Federation than not", Trump told O'Reilly.

"He's running his country and at least he's a leader, unlike what we have in this country", Trump said.

Trump added that he thinks the United States is "better" getting along with Russian Federation than not. As he has in the past, Trump argued that it makes sense to get along with Moscow to help the fight against ISIS. However that does not mean he gets on with them. "I have no idea", he added.

O'REILLY says: Putin is a killer. Even though most have already heard Donald Trump say that he has a lot of respect for Putin on the campaign trail, there has been no official word on that until now whether or not Donald Trump as the American President respects Putin.

The quote that got a lot of advance publicity was from the clip that Fox released in advance, about the President's "admiration" for Vladimir Putin. "I'm trying to imagine your response if President Obama defended the murderous reign of Vladimir Putin by saying 'You think our country is so innocent?'" Tapper asked.

Of course, the situations aren't really analogous either, further devaluing Trump's argument.

"I'm not going to critique the president's every utterance", McConnell responded.

Be sure to tune in again at 8 p.m. ET on Monday & Tuesday for parts 2 & 3 of Bill's interview on "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News Channel!

"America is different, we don't operate in any way the way the Russians do".

But the Senate Majority Leader refused to rebuke Trump for the remarks.

"Well, Putin is a former KGB", McConnell said. "He's a thug. He was not elected in a way that most people would consider a credible election", Senator McConnell told CNN's State of the Union. He said the cyber-attacks had no effect on the outcome of the election.

It was an unusual assertion coming from the President of the United States. "I think there is a clear distinction here that all Americans understand", he said.

The last claim is demonstrably untrue, but the implications of Trump's assertions are interesting.

USA intelligence agencies have accused Russian Federation of hacking computers connected to the Democratic Party as part of a wide-ranging campaign aimed at interfering in the US presidential election. She also said that Trump promised not to lift sanctions on Russian Federation until it had pulled out of Ukraine.
