C4 unveils new Bake Off presenting line-up

'I've always loved brightly coloured cakes and Sandi Toksvig so this is a dream come true for me!

Sandi Toksvig OBE said: "It is an extraordinary honour to part of this national treasure of a show".

Comedian and writer Sandi Toksvig will be joined by Noel Fielding. They take over from previous presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkin who refused to jump ship after Channel 4 outbid the BBC to clinch the show a year ago.

Now she's teaming up with Noel Fielding to co-host the next-generation series of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.

The BBC's Great British Bake Off screens on Prime TV in New Zealand, but the broadcaster does not yet have the right's to the Channel 4 show.

Toksvig and Fielding are taking over from Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, while Leith will replace Mary Berry. "It's basically the double ".

Paul Hollywood said 'I could not be more delighted by who will be joining me on the show.

"Her knowledge was so great, it was her knowledge and warmth - I think Prue has that as well". The new season is scheduled for autumn, and in these trying times, maybe it's actually good news that we have two shows that are kinda/sorta classic Bake Off. Sandi and Noel bring a fresh wit and quirkiness to the tent.

He said: "Prue is a hugely respected culinary legend and Sandi and Noel are warm and utterly hilarious".

'That's his new challenge now so we just have to wait and see, again we can't knock it till we try it so we just have to wait and see what they've both got to offer, ' he added. And you've got Sandi who is of course Danish, so she will be good with her pastries.

A number of fans have already jumped on the suggestion, with one follower replying: "Now that I'd like to see", while another said: "I want to watch a Goth detective show". She said "What a silly thing to say".

Another simply added: "It's a no from me".
