Reham Khan's reply to IK's 'phateechar' comments

Reham Khan's reply to IK's 'phateechar' comments

While defending Imran Khan's allegedly derogatory comments against the foreign players that participated in the PSL, former Pakistani captain and legendary batsman Javed Minadad said the word "phateechar" (literal meaning decrepit), used by Khan, is a "regular cricketing term".

Imran, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, in an internal party meeting, had reportedly branded the global players who came for the PSL final played in Lahore as "phateechar" (shabby).

Najim Sethi highlights the door for the revival of global cricket will be possible with the holding of PSL final in Lahore.

"I don't know even the name of any of these so-called foreign players". In a comment which has been criticised for being racist, he said, "They just picked them from Africa".

After the final, observers said Khan started nit-picking during the meeting with his party's leaders. "We don't know who they were", he added.

"It is a huge allegation, and it needs to be highlighted, especially after Pietersen has come out and clarified that it was his own decision and Imran Khan had nothing to do with it", said Miandad.

But more worrisome were Khan's remarks about the origin of the players. "This is not the first time he has said such things", said journalist Nabil Ahmad. "What's the point of holding the PSL final in Lahore?"

Although appreciating Chris Gayle and Kevin Pietersen, he stopped short of honouring Darren Sammy - who also happened to be the captain of PSL 2017 winners Peshawar Zalmi - along with them. She took to twitter and gave a reply.
