Security beffed up at Taj Mahal after ISlamic state threat

No casualties have been reported so far.

The graphic was released a week after security agencies executed combing operation in Uttar Pradesh in which Saifullah, one of the accused was killed while six others were arrested.

Since Saifullah was allegedly a self-radicalised ISIS affiliate and had been influenced via online media to carry out the Bhopal attacks, UP Police are yet to confirm any links between the pro-ISIS media group and him.

According to Site Intelligence Group, an agency that tracks jihadi activities on the web, the graphic by the Ahwaal Ummat Media Centre was posted on a channel of encrypted communication app Telegram on March 14.

India boosted security at the Taj Mahal after a pro-IS group warned of attacks in the country and threatened the Taj Mahal, police said Friday. He said that besides central forces, they also alerted the local cops and deployed more jawans of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) to avert any untoward incident.

Images published in local media showed a fighter in combat fatigues and black headgear superimposed over a photo of India's biggest tourist attraction, and the words "new target" as the backdrop.

The security was beefed up after a website revealed graphics of the Taj Mahal with a terrorist being alongside carrying what looked like a weapon.

Archaeological Survey of India and senior police officials, however, tried to play down the threat, saying the security arrangements were routine. In April a year ago, three youths from Delhi had again tried to climb the wall of Taj Mahal in a drunken state.
