Fresno Gunman Gave Police Blow-by-Blow of Shootings of 3 Men

Fresno Gunman Gave Police Blow-by-Blow of Shootings of 3 Men

Muhammad has posted on social media a dislike for white people and government officials, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said.

David Jackson tried to flee from the assailant who was targeting white men, police said.

He says he joined the Nation of Islam and in 1995, when he was 17, he attended the Million Man March in D.C.as a lieutenant.

Greer said Jackson tripped over a curb in the parking lot, falling down when he was shot. Dyer says he watched detectives investigate, then left and hid by a dumpster.

Dyer said investigators allowed Muhammad to speak on the phone to his mother, who was crying.

Gassett's ex-wife Lisa Gassett said the couple has two children, and that he is a Central High School graduate.

But Fresno police chief Jerry Dyer said indications were it was not a "terrorist-related crime" and a probe was under way to determine if the murders qualified as a hate crime.

"He set out to kill as many as he could", Fresno's top cop, Dyer told reporters. His attorney said that Muhammad had "paranoia" and thought the justice system and his defense attorney were conspiring against him, court papers said.

After Kori Ali Muhammad learned that he was wanted in the death of a security guard last week, he chose to take out as many other white men as possible before he was caught, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said.

Randalls had been training with PG&E in a classroom and Tuesday was his first day out in the field - riding along with a veteran utility employee, the Fresno Bee reported.

Muhammad was arrested shortly after the rampage.

"I did it. I shot them", Dyer said Muhammad told officers. Dyer says he believes Kori Ali Muhammad, who is black, was "proud" of what he did. Victim later identified as David Jackson. He described the 34-year-old as an open-minded person with a sharp wit and a big heart. Muhammad said he didn't want police to be forced to shoot him and that he is not a coward.

But Glenestene Taylor said she didn't remember her grandson showing a racial bias, toward whites or anyone else, in all his years staying with her or during countless visits to her predominately white Fresno neighborhood.

Dyer says Muhammad calls himself Muslim but also said he claims to pray to seven different gods.

Dyer says Muhammad went with officers to the Motel 6, where he is accused of killing unarmed security guard Carl Williams. He climbed down the next day and hid out while performing what he called Voodoo rituals.

Dyer says it is extremely rare for a suspect to be so forthcoming about potential crimes. Muhammad had gone there to meet a woman, and he argued with security who asked him to leave.

Fresno police are getting reports ready to present to the District Attorney's Office.

"I unfriended him about two years ago on Facebook", Jojo Romelo, who met Muhammad in 2014 at a nonprofit public access TV studio in downtown, told NBC station KSEE. - Muhammad continued west on Mildreda where he saw a man, fired twice and hit the victim.

She said Wednesday she was in shock, but also at peace because she had the chance to tell him how much she loved him and how proud she was of him a few days before his death. He told her he loved her, too.

Dyer said Muhammad approached a vehicle in between shootings, but he spared the lives of two Latina women who were in the auto with a child.

Muhammad also shot Mark Gassett, 37, of Fresno, after he had picked up groceries at a Catholic Charities building.

Police have arrested Kori Ali Muhammad, who is black, saying he singled out white victims and killed them at random.

An evening vigil will be held Thursday for one of the three victims killed during a racially-motivated shooting rampage in Fresno earlier this week.

Randalls was in a training program for Pacific Gas & Electric and doing a ride-along Tuesday when he was gunned down. The fanatic black nationalist told investigators he wanted to slaughter as many whites as he could.

Muhammad faces four counts of murder and at least two additional charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect, Kori Ali.

Police say the shooter was candid in explaining the crimes that began Thursday night, when he killed another white man, a motel security guard, and culminated Tuesday, when he fired 16 rounds in less than two minutes and killed the three men on the same block.

"He wouldn't want people to be divided by this", Valencia told the Fresno Bee.

He wrote that his "kill rate increases tremendously on the other side" and also posted about "white devils", themes he dwelled on in hip-hop videos that he posted on YouTube.
