Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he feels like Benjamin Button

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he feels like Benjamin Button

In the Manchester United win, it was once again veteran Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic who provided the inspiration for Jose Mourinho's side, scoring the opener and setting up a late goal for Marcus Rashford.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had already put United ahead with a sublime, curling 20-yard effort.

Jose Mourinho was delighted with Luke Shaw's performance in Manchester United's 3-0 Premier League victory at Sunderland on Sunday.

Just before the interval, Sunderland were controversially reduced to 10 men when Larsson was sent off for what was deemed a studs-up challenge on Ander Herrera, but it was the kind of decision which was left open to interpretation, rather than the call being an obvious one for the referee.

Ibrahimovic's goal means he has now scored 250 times since turning 30.

United closed to within four points of fourth-place Manchester City, on whom they retain a game in hand, but will drop back to sixth if Arsenal win at Crystal Palace on Monday.

"At the end the best team will win so the game was good and we got the 1-0 and the red card", he said. Because of course I can't move the same as five or 10 years ago, but the older, the more experienced, the more intelligent [you get], you don't waste so much energy on things you don't really need.

On Sunday against Sunderland, the 35-year-old scored the opening goal for Manchester United and reached a personal landmark. It is the ideal preparation for Thursday's crucial Europa League quarter-final tie against Belgian side Anderlecht.

"We did that and, apart from that, there were no more injuries to add to the hard list we have, because we don't hide that we are still fighting for our situation in the Premier League".

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic's handsome finish and a much needed goal for Marcus Rashford were reasons enough to be cheerful, our favourite moment came in the 87th minute.

"Every player should receive some criticism because we are not ideal".

"You know when Madrid likes a player, they tend to come and get him".

Mourinho told BBC: "We want to fight in the Premier League until it is mathematically impossible".

United needed goalkeeper Sergio Romero to spread himself at close range to deny Victor Anichebe Sunderland's first league goal since 4 February, and the hosts suffered another blow when Larsson was dismissed. "We reacted to the results of yesterday because Man City and Liverpool won and it left us in a position of 'yes or no?' and it was a yes", he added.
