Movie On Vince McMahon's Career Moving Forward

Movie On Vince McMahon's Career Moving Forward

TriStar Pictures is getting into the ring for a biopic about WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

The studio is in negotiations for the film, with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who direct and executive produce the hit television drama This Is Us, on board to direct the project.

The film is sure to focus on WWE and McMahon's involvement in professional wrestling, though the project is still in the early stages and details are sparse. Charlie Gogolak of Zaftig Films will serve as the Executive Producer for Pandemonium.

The script by Craig A. Williams has been generating interest since a year ago, although studios were reluctant to commit as it had not received the blessing of WWE or Vince McMahon.

Sony's TriStar Pictures wound up being the ones to making the biggest impression - even going so far as to decorate their offices with WWE gear for their pitch, the sources said.

But now that Andrew Lazar (of "American Sniper") is attached as a producer and has "secured McMahon's life rights", everyone is in a frenzy for it. He has also appeared on WWE TV, and occasionally competed as a wrestler, under the ring name Mr. McMahon, who had a legendary feud with Austin and faced off against numerous great names of wrestling. He unleashed grapplers from Hulk Hogan to Bruno Sammartino and Triple H to budding actor John Cena and The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, Hollywood's reigning action star.

Whatever direction the filmmakers decide to go in, here's hoping the find room to fit in his face off with Donald Trump at Wrestlemania 23.

Williams previously wrote the script for 2007's Underdog.
