North Korea says don't mess with us as US plans next move

North Korea says don't mess with us as US plans next move

Russian Federation has derailed a proposed UN Security Council statement that would have condemned North Korea's latest missile launch test, using its veto to torpedo the motion.

Instead, North Korea tested a missile Sunday, which was said to have failed, provoking more calls for the country to cease its hostile acts.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations had a message for North Korea on Wednesday: "We're not trying to pick a fight so don't try and give us one".

China may be getting fed up with continued nuclear bluster from long-time ally North Korea and tilting toward the United States.

The discussions on the text follow bold statements made this week by both US Ambassador Nikki Haley and North Korea's Deputy Ambassador Kim In Ryong.

"American officials did make some positive and constructive remarks. such as using whatever peaceful means possible to resolve the (Korean) Peninsula nuclear issue".

She said that she wanted Pyongyang to see that the United States was not an aggressor.

North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Han Song-ryol ratcheted up the rhetoric in an interview with the BBC. In response to the action, a North Korean foreign minister said the U.S.'s recent attack on Syria justifies North Korea's nuclear defense program.

Since then, North Korea has continued its missile testing, including one fired just before an early April summit between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, staged a large-scale military parade with new missiles and launchers, and pledged to test another nuclear weapon at any time.

Two weeks ago, the USA announced it had ordered the deployment of nuclear aircraft carrier the USS Carl Vinson on the Korean peninsula, a move that was interpreted as a warning against Pyongyang's arms development program.

It is now heading to the region and will carry out maneuvers in the waters of the Sea of Japan near the Korean peninsula.

The language on North Korea's nuclear program was more straightforward.

"The situation on the Korean peninsula and in the region has reached an extremely unsafe phase due to the mad-cap nuclear war provocations of the USA", the Foreign Ministry said Friday in a statement reported by state-run news agency KCNA.
