The player always decides - Koeman can not promise Lukaku will stay

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Two goals from Romelu Lukaku ensured Everton ended Craig Shakespeare's ideal record as Leicester manager with an entertaining 4-2 victory in the Premier League on Sunday. It was very clear that some of the replacements were unable to provide adequate cover, especially right-back Amartey and centre-back Benalouane.

"I know Everton have a really good record here, they work hard to get in between the lines and cause you problems, getting overloads in there, but that wasn't what caused us problems; it was defending the set plays".

Since the turn of the new year, Everton has been the most entertaining team in the Premier League, and they kept that going on Sunday. Not that the Leicester team on display at Goodison Park will be the one that carries the flag in the Spanish capital.

Lukaku struck in the 23rd and 57th minute, with a Phil Jagielka header sandwiched in between in the 41st minute.

Shakespeare, who insisted that his team selection had nothing to do with the result at Goodison Park, will lead the Foxes against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday. "We have to start again and go another run".

"Lots of people argued with me when he arrived and I put him through the middle and not on the wing".

Defeat ended a run of five straight wins for the Foxes but manager Shakespeare was confident there would be no hangover in Spain.

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was absent with a minor groin problem, but is expected to be fit for the match in Madrid this week.

If he stays at Everton, Barkley can pretty much assure himself of regular football on a weekly basis having overcome his early-season spell out of the team.

"I believe we should be more competitive in there, we must ensure we get an arm across and remain with runners".

One goal in 30 seconds, three inside 10 minutes and five before the half was out.

Barkley played 90 minutes against Leicester but his future was thrown into doubt as manager Ronald Koeman later said the player would have to be sold if he does not sign a new contract.

With Schneiderlin off we were less likely to hold possession, and with Vardy off while Mahrez and Musa were introduced, we saw Leicester hold the ball more and switch plans from hitting us on the break to buildup play.

The former Sporting forward cancelled out Tom Davies' first-minute opener with an equaliser after just four minutes and wheeled away with his short sleeves and gloves.
