Trump's 100 days: A rattled establishment, some surprises

When asked to look at the first one hundred days of Trump's administration as a whole, just 21 percent of Americans said he's off to a "good start", compared to 45 percent who said it's a "poor start".

President Trump took a few more shots Monday at his old nemesis - the pollsters who confidently predicted his loss a year ago - after new surveys were released playing up the president's low approval ratings at the end of his first 100 days. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points. And Trump's low numbers offer no consolation for the Democratic Party.

Trump's overall approval ratings stand at 40 percent for the month of April, with 54 percent disapproving.

But the poll had some "brighter" spots for the president, finding that 73% approved of his pressuring companies to stay in the USA, and the 53% who said he was a strong leader.

He tweeted the assertion "Would still beat Hillary in popular vote", though it was unclear what he meant since Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by several million. The survey found 94% of people who voted for him approve of his job as do 84% of Republicans. Only 85 per cent of Mrs Clinton's supporters said they would back her again, with most self-reported voters who supported the Democrat claiming they would either vote for a third-party candidate or simply not vote.

The survey found that only 50% give Trump high marks for being firm and decisive, down from 57% in a February poll. Moreover, despite Trump's low approval ratings, he has received high marks from Americans who agree with his "America First" campaign.

Ultimately, the results of the poll still reveal that Donald Trump lags behind former President Barrack Obama's during his first 100 days.

In light of this, Donald Trump has openly voiced his plans to make sure that America keeps their factories and jobs within the country, thus providing work opportunities to the citizens of the United States. In the actual election Clinton failed to achieve an an electoral victory but outpaced Trump by nearly 2.9 million votes, with 65,853,516 (48.18%) to his 62,984,825 (46.09%) according to the Federal Election Commission.
