Walker scores 29; Hornets overcome Westbrook's triple-double

A triple-double is the accumulation of a double-digit number total in three of the five basketball box-score categories in a game.

"The starters got off to a great start, which is important against a good team on the road and then the guys off the bench got the cushion there in the fourth quarter, Jeremy Lamb especially, so we got contributions from everybody". And, for as much as that's where his focus should be, it's fair to assume he'll also be gunning to tie Oscar Robertson's record.

Sunday's triple-double was Westbrook's sixth consecutive one.

Entering Sunday, the Hornets were one of only two teams (along with the Bulls) against whom Westbrook hadn't recorded a triple-double. That is unfortunate, as traded players tend to get amped up to play former squads.

The Charlotte Hornets have won six of their last eight games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after taking down the Nuggets by 122-114 on Friday. He looked back again. While the Hornets seek to continue their current hot streak Westbrook has his own agenda. This win continues Charlotte's late push for the playoffs.

"No, it doesn't", Westbrook said of whether passing the milestone registers with him. Westbrook answered right back from the same location.

Arguably the most impressive endorsement comes from Michael Jordan's former teammate Scottie Pippen.

Westbrook registered his 40th triple-double of the season as he posted 40 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.

He needs just 11 rebounds and 29 assists over Oklahoma City's final six games to get there. He also had 12 rebounds and eight assists. Charlotte, which entered the game averaging the fewest turnovers in the National Basketball Association (11.5 per game), had 18 on Sunday.

But Westbrook, singularly result focused throughout this historic season of his, would have been bitterly disappointed by a sub-par Thunder effort as they fell to a second straight defeat, and their fourth in the last seven. However they haven't had good luck against the Thunder, as the last time these two teams met was back on March 9 in OKC and the Spurs dropped a big one, losing by 10 points in a 102-92 letdown. "Starting with myself, we have to take better care of the ball".

Westbrook is off one of the best individual performances across the entire league as he recorded 57 points in a recent triple-double in addition to producing 13 rebounds and 11 assists in an overtime win over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.
