Browns sign Texas A&M's Myles Garrett, 1st overall pick

Browns sign Texas A&M's Myles Garrett, 1st overall pick

Myles Garrett has his money, and now all he has to think about is chasing you down.

The No. 1 overall pick in last month's National Football League draft, Garrett signed his four-year rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns, who gave the speedy defensive end an estimated $30.4 million package that includes a $20.3 million guaranteed signing bonus. The package is worth an estimated $30.4 million, including a hefty $20.3 million guaranteed signing bonus.

"I'm going to be a playmaker", Garrett said on May 12 during the Browns rookie minicamp in Berea. "They're going to let me go and wreak havoc, and I'm excited for it".

Garrett caused a stir shortly after being drafted by saying he was targeting Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for his first sack.

"Unlike what [a reporter] said, he said I was slow off the ball, but that is coming from the very best", Garrett told reporters Sunday. "We're looking to get after him".

Brantley was the team's 8th player selected in the draft, one of two defensive tackles picked, and their only sixth-round pick. You are trying to make a name for yourself. "They are not going to shy away from the challenge and neither are we".

Garrett collected 141 tackles (47 for loss), 31 sacks and forced seven fumbles during his three-year career at Texas A&M. With the signing of Garrett, the Browns have now agreed to terms with six of their ten draft picks. He played and started 47 of a possible 80 games with the Browns over five years. All first-round contracts include a team option for the fifth year.

Oh, I forgot about Myles Garrett. "He doesn't seem like a guy that's going to be either fazed by the limelight or success". I like our young guys. A Renaissance man off the field who writes poetry and loves the work of Maya Angelou, the Browns are hoping he provides a reawakening of their sluggish defense.
