China 'putting pressure' on North Korea

Mr Kim's regime has threatened devastating retribution should the United States try to attack, including sinking its huge USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier.

Analysts say the KN-17 is a new Scud-type missile developed by North Korea. North Korean officials boycotted the meeting, which was chaired by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Tillerson warned the UN Security Council last week of "catastrophic consequences" if the world does not act and said that military options for dealing with the North were still "on the table".

The stars of the night were Watergate reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. It doesn't appear that there will be a war within the next few days but one can never tell with Trump.

"And at a very young age, he was able to assume power", Trump said in the interview with CBS's Face the Nation.

Priebus said the president is looking for cooperation in the region to work "with as many partners in the area as we can get".

"And I can tell you also, I don't believe that the president of China, who is a very respected man, will be happy either", Trump said.

Amid rising tensions between the USA and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, Trump told CBS's "Face the Nation" that Kim is "going to have to do what he has to do". But, you know, so the question - I think the answer's probably not.

There is growing concern over regime's nuclear and missile programme, with fears it is trying to develop a weapon that can reach the USA.

"This is something that we know we can not tolerate", General McMaster said. The missile blew up shortly just launch, officials said. The programme's repeated failures over the past few years have given rise to suspicions of U.S. sabotage.

In the CBS interview, the president was asked why the North's rockets keep blowing up.

"In a nutshell, DPRK have already declared not to attend any type of talks which would discuss its nuclear abandonment, nuclear disbandment", he said.

"Now if we don't have all of our folks together, whether they're good folks, bad folks, people that we wish would do better in their country, doesn't matter. But eventually, he'll have good missiles".

The previous day he described Mr Kim as a "pretty smart cookie".

Francis said the United Nations should regain its leadership in conflict resolution, saying it had been "watered down" over time.

"We do have to do something" with partners in the region and globally "that involves enforcement of the United Nations sanctions that are in place", McMaster said on "Fox News Sunday". After discussing North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Dickerson asked if Trump thought he would use military force against the dictator.

Trump said North Korea had "disrespected" China by attempting to launch another ballistic missile as the President counts on his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to encourage Pyongyang to give up its pursuit of missile and nuclear weapons programmes.

The launch comes at a point of particularly high tension in the region.
