J&K Governor meets Rajnath, discusses Kashmir situation

Union home minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the Maoist-infested areas of Chhattisgarh where the rebels massacred 25 CRPF jawans last week.

Vohra's meeting with Mehrishi lasted for 20 minutes wherein they both reviewed the ground situation in Kashmir and discussed the steps taken to control the barbaric situation.

Vohar may be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to brief him about the tense situation including killing of seven persons in Kulgam and mutilation of the bodies of two soldiers along the Line of Control.

Informed sources said the meeting discussed the fresh trouble in Jammu and Kashmir, where a spike in stone-pelting incidents by students have caused a law and order problem.

Earlier in the day, the Election Commission has cancelled the Anantnag Lok Sabha bypoll citing that the situation in the valley was not feasible to hold elections. A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was also killed in the ceasefire violation which is drawing huge criticism.

While assuring the Home Minister of bringing things back to normal, the Jammu and Kashmir Governor said he would keep updating the former about the developments taking place in the Valley. After a few Kashmiri students were threatened in some parts of the country, the home minister had asked all state governments to provide security to Kashmiris living in their states.
