Leicester revival continues with 3-0 win over Watford

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare says the club "don't need to sell" goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Leicester capitalised on defensive errors by Watford to score their first two goals through Wilfred Ndidi and Riyad Mahrez, before Marc Albrighton added a third in second-half stoppage time.

It was also boss Craig Shakespeare's eighth win in 13 games in charge and only Tottenham (24) have earned more points than Leicester's 22 since Shakespeare took over in February.

The defending champions flirted with relegation and Ranieri was sacked when they were a point above the bottom three, but Shakespeare saluted their recovery effort. I've said before I have no problems with the players wanting to progress and play in the Champions League - which we have offered this season.

"I've said to the players the challenge is to finish as high as possible".

Leicester - Leicester return home to the King Power Stadium to face Watford on Saturday with their Premier League future effectively secure and thoughts already turning to a crucial close-season.

And Albrighton wrapped it up in injury time when he fired in off the post after Vardy led a quick break.

"I'm very pleased. In all the conversations I've had with Riyad he is very self-critical", said the manager. "It's pleasing he has turned that talk into action".

Watford are also all but safe with 40 points, but the defeat was their fifth in a row without a goal away from home in the league and adds to the growing pressure on boss Walter Mazzarri.

He said: "The result is not nice but it doesn't reflect how the game went". In the game we were at the same level as Leicester. In the first half, we could have scored before them and they punished us for stupid individual mistakes.

Gomes kept the Hornets in the game eight minutes later when he saved Vardy's low shot after the striker was allowed to run into the box unchallenged, and there were more heroics from Schmeichel at the other end as he tipped Cleverley's dipping drive over the crossbar.
