On day one of Darbar, Mehbooba says situation will improve

The civil secretariat re-opened in Srinagar on Monday with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti taking the ceremonial salute along with the traditional guard of honour at civil secretariat Srinagar. "Only few do it and not all".

Fresh student protests swept Newa and Tral area of Pulwama, Aripanthan in Budgam, Qalamabad in Langate and Zainakote in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, amid rising militant attacks, stone pelting and protests by students, security remains a major concern for the state government. "The nation will support whatever he decides", she said.

She reiterated, "Our youth perform very well in each and every competitive examination held at national level".

"They have so much potential that they can prove themselves anywhere in the country", she said.

She appealed media to play a constructive role in minimizing the divide between sections of the society and act as a guide and a beacon to show the right path to the government and the people whenever they deflect from their objective.

She is not allowing the security forces to take action and by making such statements, she is only demoralising the security forces and also giving confidence to the stone pelters to get involve into such activities.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the party said that Dr Farooq sought a political approach from New Delhi to deal with the Kashmir situation and said dealing with the Kashmir Issue exclusively through operational and law-and-order mechanisms would continue to compound the already grave situation.

"For the first time in the history of turmoil in the State, people in Kashmir were prevented from attending Eid prayers and locked in their homes in what is the most auspicious occasion for Muslims".

Mehbooba cited how Sheikh Abdullah was forced to enter into the Indira-Abdullah accord, perhaps implying that today's separatists too would be compelled to fall in line. Then there was militancy during 1990s. "It is the responsibility of everyone, including the media, to help the government in restoring peace in the Valley", she added. But I believe that peace and normalcy will be restored in the Valley soon. "The lava was simmering and it surfaced in 2008 and 2010 and now it's what we are seeing", said the CM.
