Police arrest 14th man in Manchester bombing inquiry

Earlier, police made a 16th arrest in connection with the Manchester suicide bombing at a concert by USA singer Ariana Grande, the deadliest attack in Britain for 12 years.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in Shoreham-by-Sea, some 400 kilometers (250 miles) from Manchester, "on suspicion on offences contrary to the terrorism act", Greater Manchester Police said on Twitter Monday morning.

Eleven other men between the ages of 18 and 44 also were in custody.

It was while at Manchester College that two people who knew Abedi have confirmed they made separate calls to an anti-terrorism hotline to warn the police about his extremist views.

Still, security remains high at large-scale public events, including the Great Manchester Run where some 40,000 runners took to the city streets.

In addition, police raided a property in a southern Manchester suburb as they step up their The attack, Britain's worst in more than a decade, was carried out by British-born terrorist Salman Abedi, who detonated a powerful bomb at the exit of an Ariane Grande concert.

The British domestic intelligence agency was facing pressure after it emerged that Salman Abedi's friends, family and members of his mosque all raised concerns about the attacker with the Home Office and anti-terror hotlines.

As the large-scale operation continued, the UK's National Health Service (NHS) said 54 people injured in the attack were still being treated in eight hospitals with 19 receiving critical care.

British authorities are racing to round up the terror network behind the Manchester concert bombing after Home Secretary Amber Rudd revealed some of those involved could potentially still be at large. "People in our communities who are being targeted by Daesh [the Islamic State terror group] and fed a false ideology".

"Until the operation is complete, we can't be entirely sure that it is closed", she said. His elder brother Ismail is among the suspects being held in Britain, and a younger brother and Abedi's father have been detained in Libya.

Police have released surveillance-camera images of Abedi on the night of the attack that show him dressed in sneakers, jeans, a dark jacket and a baseball cap.

There were prayers for the victims at church services across Manchester on Sunday.

"In the past five days we have gathered significant information about Abedi, his associates, his finances, the places he had been, how the device was built and the wider conspiracy", the police statement said.

"You may have seen him in the Wilmslow Road area or Manchester city centre with the suitcase or know where the suitcase has been".
