Teen 'owns up to' tossing 68-year-old woman in Florida pool

The 68-year-old South Florida woman who was slammed on the ground and tossed into a pool by a teen over the weekend in a shocking incident that was caught on camera is still bruised but said she's moving forward.

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives arrested the 16-year-old responsible for throwing a 68-year-old woman in a pool. The video shows a man, identified by police as Balfour, picking James up, slipping on the ground and knocking them both down before picking her up again and walking towards the pool to throw her in. "I didn't care what they were doing".

The incident is believed to have taken place on Saturday (local time), but it isn't known whether police got involved.

James is a board member at the Player's Club Townhomes in North Lauderdale. She also said she sustained injuries to her right leg and left shoulder.

'No one should ever, ever, ever, ever, have to go through that, you know?' James told WPLG.

"James was very frightened and upset", according to a report filed by a deputy who arrived after numerous party guests had fled.

"Typical day, have some fun". "No matter what, they're going to have parties ... I could have gone over there, and it could have been me". Video shows people running away from the party after James was thrown in. Partygoers said it was all in fun. "We started to scream when she fell cause we thought she had hurt something".

"It was a very cruel thing what that kid did", she said.

The woman holds her hand out at a group of revellers and makes a gesture for them to be quiet and calm down. Her second dog managed to flee before it was pulled into the pool. "I went back to see what happened and she came out the pool".

In 911 calls released Tuesday, callers described the chaos after the teen and James went into the water. "The kids that live here are wonderful kids".

He is charged with assault and battery.

Balfour will have another court date set in the future.
