Indian cricket team squad for West Indies tour announced

Indian cricket team squad for West Indies tour announced

Rishabh Pant, who made his global debut against England in February, has been named in the India's squad for the West Indies tour, scheduled immediately after the ICC Champions Trophy, which ends on Sunday.

Interestingly, India's opener Rohit Sharma, who made a comeback to worldwide cricket in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2017 after a long break, has not been included in the squad.

India have announced a strong squad for the West Indies tour, which comprises five ODIs and one-off T20 global, starting June 23. The two were part of the five players kept on standby should there be need for an injury replacement.

It has been reported that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman is likely to meet skipper Virat Kohli on Friday in order to find out more about the nature of his differences with Kumble and his style of functioning.

Pant has had the cricket community excited with his aggressive batting, which included a 326-ball 308 in the Ranji Trophy last season.

Kuldeep has been on coach Kumble's radar for a long time now and even chairman of selectors Prasad feels he is one for the future.

Spinner Yadav, 22, impressed on his test debut against Australia in March, claiming 4-68 in the first innings to help India win the four-match series 2-1. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is also not in the squad for the West Indies tour. Both Bumrah and Rohit were in the middle of playing the Champions Trophy semifinal against Bangladesh in Birmingham on Thursday when the team was announced.
