ITV: Boris Johnson stresses loyalty to UK PM May in leaked text

British foreign minister Boris Johnson has been asked by five other ministers to launch a bid to replace Theresa May as the country's prime minister after she failed to win a parliamentary majority in an election last week, the Sunday Times reported.

The party is seeking support from Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party to stay in power. "He has been inundated with messages of support", one ally reportedly told the paper. "Boris is the only option with the liberal values, Brexit credentials and popular appeal".

However, Boris himself described the story as "Mail on Sunday tripe" adding: 'I am backing Theresa May. "Let's get on with the job", Johnson posted on his Twitter account.

Tim Stanley, leader writer for The Telegraph claimed Tory frontbenchers had revealed they viewed Mrs May as "wooden" and that she had "no vision", that "her staff must go", a "new leader [is] possible" and "Boris [is] being talked up".

The terms of such a deal were thought to have been agreed on Saturday evening, but just before midnight, a statement from the DUP suggested that talks are ongoing.

Downing Street says it hopes to finalize the deal next week, after Parliament resumes sitting.

He also warned fellow Conservatives that the media must not be allowed to spread mischief, writing: The public are fed up to the back teeth of politics and politicians and they certainly DO NOT want another election. "I can't remember us having anything like 43% of the vote", he went on to type.

A latest YouGov poll for "The Sunday Times" revealed that voters, by a margin of 48 per cent to 38 per cent, believe the Prime Minister should resign and for the first time Corbyn has drawn level with May on the question of who would be the best Prime Minister.
