Lakers Looking to Acquire a First-Round Pick

Lakers Looking to Acquire a First-Round Pick

The NBA season came to an end on Monday when the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games behind Finals MVP Kevin Durant.

The 2017 NBA Draft is here.

The Los Angeles Lakers are now, for all intents and purposes, in the driver's seat for the 2017 NBA Draft. They may be hesitant to do that however since making a trade with the Pacers would involve the Lakers losing out on some of their current assets.

The Lakers need to ensure that they remain an attractive destination for George next summer, or to make a move to get him this season.

According to ESPN's Chad Ford, the Suns want to jump a spot or two for a shot at UCLA guard Lonzo Ball.

But in the event the Suns land a star at No. 4 and use No. 32 for a draft-and-stash guy, adding a little wing depth in a draft offering plenty of 3-and-D prospects is never a bad idea. If the Celtics take Fultz, they will have four point guards in their roster - Thomas, Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart, creating a logjam.

Boston is expected to take Markelle Fultz as No. 1 overall pick but there is a strong possibility that they may take Jackson, who cancelled a workout with the Celtics this week.

National Basketball Association draft prospect Josh Jackson is one of the prospects who has already expressed interest in playing with Ingram. While the talent and ability are obviously there for many players who are slated in the top 10 picks, after that some teams look for players with the best upside.

This, and probably more, will all unfold on draft night. The Celtics nearly certainly won't select a point guard at No. 3 after trading the No. 1 pick to the Philadelphia 76ers and giving up their chance to draft top prospect Markelle Fultz. "After nine or ten, you're going to see a run of young, talented but incomplete young big men", said Fraschilla. They are also interested in trading down in the draft, and could be playing up their interest in Markkanen to try and find a suitor.
