Macron confirms death of third French victim in London attack

Melissa McMullan described her brother as "an inspiration" adding that police told her they were unable to formally identify him until the coroner's report is released.

"On Tuesday, 6 June at approximately 19:44hours the body of a man was recovered from the river, near Limehouse, by specialist officers from the Marine Police Unit".

The 45-year-old Frenchman, Xavier Thomas, has been missing since the night of the terrorist attack on London Bridge.

The announcement came as the last victims were named.

Spanish banker Ignacio Echeverria (39), was killed after trying to defend a woman with his skateboard in the Borough Market area.

"Sara's family and friends are devastated".

The French national was walking with his girlfriend over the bridge when the attack began.

Mr Echeverría was from Madrid and working for HSBC bank in London. She remains hospitalized for her injuries. "We just need to know", she said.

Australian nurse Kirsty Boden was killed after she ran towards danger to help people, her family said.

A waiter at Boro Bistro, Alexandre Pigeard, 27, died after being stabbed.

Canadian bride-to-be Ms Archibald died in her fiance's arms.

In the United Kingdom, the police are constrained by a formal process for identifying fatal victims of crimes that is meant to prevent errors.

The 21-year-old worked as a nanny in London and had previously been described as missing after the attacks Saturday night.

Relatives of Australian Sara Zelenak have confirmed she was killed in the London attacks over the weekend.

"Accurately identifying victims is crucial and every care is taken to ensure this is done as quickly as possible, with due consideration to the families", the Metropolitan Police said in a statement, but a spokesman declined to comment on specific victims.

Harry said: "Australians form an important and vibrant part of the fabric of life in London and we are reminded of that in good times and bad".

Experts suggested protocol may have tightened after leaks to the USA media about the Manchester attack.
