Michigan St players charged in campus sexual assault case

"We are alleging that on the night of January 16, those three persons sexually assaulted a woman in an East Lansing apartment on campus". Corley and Vance are charged with third-degree sexual misconduct.

"It's never a good day when a criminal charge is filed against you, but at least Mr. Corley knows what he is facing and can get on with the process of fighting it", Corley's lawyer John Shea told the outlet in a statement.

Police say the alleged victim knew King before the encounter. The woman claims King then forced her to perform oral sex on him, then pulled her trousers down and had intercourse with her. The third was a privately commissioned investigation to determine if Michigan State correctly handled allegations of sexual misconduct against its football players.

UPDATED 9:50 A.M.: A judge authorized charges Tuesday against three MSU football players.

Michigan State dismissed three football players Tuesday after a district court issued warrants for their arrest on sexual assault charges earlier in the day. "We took immediate action by suspending those involved as soon as we were notified of the situation". The high standards I have established for this program will not change, and the values that we teach to everyone in this program will be enforced.

The report also said there is evidence that the staff member who was suspended - who has now been identified as Blackwell - "learned about an incident potentially involving football players from the reporting player who initially reported to Dantonio". The school also suspended three football players and removed them from university housing on February 9. His contract was not renewed after it expired May 31.

CBS Detroit reports results of an independent investigation by the university were released on Monday by the MSU Board of Trustees.

An attorney for the alleged victim in the January incident said the school found the suspended players violated Title IX conduct policies.

"These are not the only incidents". "There's a whole lot more out there". "Is there a problem?" "I think that anyone you spoke with in the community would tell you he is just a really polite and courteous young man and I think he's been falsely accused".

Jim Dunlap, chief of the Michigan State police department, said his officers had spent more than 1,500 hours on the investigation and had conducted more than 100 interviews, according to the Free Press. Scott was at the courthouse this morning to hear the issuance of warrants for Donnie Corley, Demetric Vance and Josh King and describes the scene.

Dantonio immediately called the university's Office of Institutional Equity, that report found, which is what he's supposed to do according to MSU's policies. Vance redshirted past year, his first in East Lansing.

A highly touted recruit out of suburban Chicago, King started two games last season as a true freshman and had 10 tackles.
