Nancy Pelosi Ends Truce, Blasting 'Sanctimonious' Republicans over Incitement Concerns

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday suggested that Fox News is is the leading cause of political violence like that which unfolded near the Capitol on Wednesday.

"If the president says, 'I can shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and nobody would care, ' when you have somebody say, 'Beat them up and I'll pay their legal fees, ' when you have all the assaults that are made on Hillary Clinton", the California representative said in her weekly news conference.

"[The shooting] is an injury in the family.we will use this occasion as one that brings us together, not separates us further", Pelosi said yesterday on the House Floor.

House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) was shot in the hip and remains in critical condition after three surgeries.

Pelosi went on to point out the past rhetoric that came from Republicans, including President Donald Trump.

Pelosi believes that the Russian government is blackmailing or extorting Trump, using sensitive information created to bend him to their will.

Some Republican lawmakers blamed Democratic rhetoric for fostering an environment that led the shooter to target Republicans.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), a fierce Trump defender, said the shooting was fueled by "an increasing intensity of hostility on the left". "It's been much more hard than people even thought at the time". He focused on our differences rather than our things that unify us.

"Somewhere in the 90s the Republicans decided on a politics of personal destruction as they went after the Clintons, and that is the provenance of it, and that what's continued".

"Probably as we sit here, they're running caricatures of me and Georgia once again of over $100 million, of vitriolic things they say that resulted in calls to my home constantly, threats in front of my grandchildren really predicated on their comments and their paid ads", Pelosi said.

Pelosi couldn't provide proof that Trump took part in obstruction, instead saying that he is abusing his authority as commander-in-chief.
