Twitter unveils new look, which users quickly mock

From breaking news and entertainment to sports, politics and everyday interests, when things happen in the world, they happen first on Twitter.

The full rundown of features has been elaborated on in an official blog post. That will offer a one-stop shop for important information like your profile, additional accounts, settings, and privacy.

For Android users, these changes were implemented last summer, and due to their positive response, Twitter is making those changes to iOS.

It has also refined typography to make it more consistent.

"Also, rounded profile photos make it clearer to see what's being said and who's saying it", reads an excerpt. The reply icon, which was presented as an arrow, has been mistaken by people for delete or for going back to the previous page. Users also tweeted their dismay when the company rolled out its "Moments" feature, and when it got rid of its star icon signifying a "favorite" tweet, in favor of a heart icon, similar to Facebook's "like" button.

Previously, the Twitter app opened links in its own browser, which meant you would have to enter your usernames and passwords for any paywalled site (ahem, Wall Street Journal) that you visited via a Twitter link.

Twitter's changes can also be seen as a nod to its competition, most notably Instagram, to attract more millennials, said Kelley Heider, vice president of social media at SSPR, a San Francisco-based public relations agency. And there's a new speech bubble for the reply button, which aims to provide clarity.

The adjustment had already been made for Android users for nearly a year, but now it's expanded those browsing with iOS.

The update should be rolling out to stable Twitter very soon if it hasn't already. Among the changes are a new side navigation menu, a new typeface and more relatable icons.

In addition, Twitter has changed their Reply icon. Do you think they were really necessary considering Twitter's host of other problems?
