White House Ducks Questions Over Kushner Back-Channel Reports

Still, barring anything tangible, Trump's major challenge remains to prevent his White House's policy efforts from being overwhelmed by his obsession with the trio of investigations into his campaign's ties with Russian Federation, most importantly the probe by newly named special counsel Robert Mueller.

Separately, the panel approved subpoenas to the CIA, the National Security Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation seeking records showing which former Obama administration officials requested the "unmasking" of the names of Trump associates who were inadvertently picked up in top-secret communications intercepts, a congressional official said on condition of anonymity.

Kushner is Trump's son-in-law and holds the title of Senior White House Adviser.

Trump retweeted an article from FOX News titled "Jared Kushner didn't suggest Russian communications channel in meeting, source says".

And he said, "You're asking if he approves of an action that is not a confirmed action".

"I honestly can't say that it's going to be a wave", one official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters at the White House.

Kushner, meanwhile, plans to maintain his broad-ranging portfolio of modernizing the government, managing foreign relations, and fostering Middle East peace talks, even as his contacts with Russians come under new scrutiny. "I know that some administration officials are saying 'Well, that's standard procedure.' I don't think it's standard procedure before the inauguration of the president of the United States by someone who is not in an appointed position". Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly's claim that back channel communications are "both normal, in my opinion, and acceptable" doesn't fully explain the circumstances of the request coming from someone who is so close to Trump and on the heels of an election in which Russian interference looms large.

"When you see stories get perpetrated that are absolutely false; that are not based in fact, that is troubling, and he is rightly concerned", Spicer said. Communications director Michael Dubke has resigned. Trump denies any collusion between Russian Federation and his campaign and has questioned the veracity of the US intelligence finding. The meeting included another senior adviser in the Trump administration, as well. Representative Adam Schiff said in an interview with ABC News. In an early morning round of tweets, the President revealed frustration that his legislative agenda is proceeding slowly, though demonstrated a lack of clarity on Senate rules.

"We have a MASSIVE trade deficit with Germany, plus they pay FAR LESS than they should on North Atlantic Treaty Organisation & military", Trump fired back on Tuesday.

And he refocused attention on the Russian Federation issue, declaring the issue a distraction and a ploy for Democrats to explain their election loss.

"Russian officials must be laughing at the USA & how a lame excuse for why the Dems lost the election has taken over the Fake News", he declared.

"The question is, what is The Washington Post hiding?" the DCNF wrote Tuesday.
