'Wonder Woman' gross revised up to $103.1 million

While I don't think Patty Jenkin's original story for the Amazon princess Diana of Themyscira matches the best of Marvel's entries into the genre, it certainly holds its own and is miles ahead of the DC films that preceded it. "They felt like an imposition on landscape, which didn't feel like something that women are jonesing to do". Everyone from Lupita Nyong'o to Jessica Chastain has been giving the film, as well as director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot, rave reviews, including none other than Thor himself (aka Chris Hemsworth). It also was the highest-grossing opening weekend ever for a film directed by a woman.

Women made up 53 percent of "Wonder Woman's" audience, according to tracking numbers. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers... and her true destiny.

"Usually the women are the damsel in distress or the heartbroken woman or the sidekick, but in real life it's not the case. If we have that more, we'll have a better society". Wonder Woman symbolises the magnificence of a woman and how awesome women are. "So when I started to really hunker in on the significance of No Man's Land, there were a couple people who were deeply confused, wondering, like, 'Well, what is she going to do?"

"It's my favorite scene in the movie and it's the most important scene in the movie", she continued.

"Wonder Woman", though, pushed the week's box office up 30 percent over the same week a year ago, according to comScore. It's not even an issue. It will take until March, 2019, for another woman to helm a comic-book property - and even then, Captain Marvel director Anna Boden is sharing duties with creative collaborator Ryan Fleck. Gadot is attractive, yet holds her own when it comes to the action. "I'm sure we wouldn't have made the same choice", Playboy Magazine quoted the director as saying, reported news agency PTI. "The story will take place in the United States, which I think is right", she said.

Wonder Woman's next appearance, in the "Justice League" film, is five months away. The film lets her explore her surroundings and isn't preoccupied with loud action set pieces.

Wonder Woman was also number one in the United Kingdom, earning £6.18m over the weekend.

"The Denmark I grew up in was a Denmark in which women were, in fact, fully liberated and the whole world had been opened up to us", she said. I had been talking to the studio for so long about doing it and I was like well "that's that'". She and Gadot, both statuesque, wear wedges in the film. They arrive at a field dubbed "No Man's Land" across which the Germans and the British had been locked in a standoff for over a year. "I think there were like 120 Amazons", said Wright, who plays the warrior Antiope, Diana's aunt and teacher. But the opening weekend for "Wonder Woman" is an achievement for female filmmakers and for the industry, says Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at comScore.

The last DCEU movie, Suicide Squad, went through a series of reshoots to supposedly add more humor, but Jenkins only needed to reshoot one sequence she felt was lacking the proper tension.
