Activists Disrupt Woody Allen Concert in Germany

Activists Disrupt Woody Allen Concert in Germany

The filmmaker, who was happily sitting front and center amid his bandmates, had his eyes closed as he played the clarinet when two women hopped onstage in nothing but black trousers, white sneakers and flowers in their hair and began shouting lines from Dylan Farrow's 2014 open letter to her father. Security guards quickly pulled the pair offstage and they were escorted out of the venue.

In a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter a year ago, Dylan's brother Ronan Farrow detailed the allegations, and condemned the general press silence surrounding them. On Femen Germany's Facebook page, a clearer photo of the women shows a quote from Farrow's 2014 New York Times piece: "Woody Allen is a living testament to the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse".

Mr. Allen and his band did not seem particularly rattled by the disruption, as evidenced by video clips of the concert, posted on YouTube. One organiser even stops to snaps a selfie in the midst of the debacle. "I loved her and hope one day she will grasp how she has been cheated out of having a loving father and exploited by a mother more interested in her own festering anger than her daughter's well-being".

Two protestors from the extreme Femen group -who have grabbed headlines before or their provocative nude protests-ran onto the stage of the sold-out Elbphilharmonie concert hall 21 minutes into the performance.

Allen is now married to Soon-Yi Previn, another one of Mia Farrow's adopted daughters. Femen members have previously protested in places like the 2012 London Olympics and the Grand Mosque of Paris.
