'Aladdin' cast for live-action adaptation revealed

'Aladdin' cast for live-action adaptation revealed

The casting news was revealed at Disney's fan convention, the D23 Expo, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, near Disneyland.

How do you feel about Disney's casting choices? Massoud was born in Egypt and raised in Canada while Scott, half-Indian, was raised in the UK.

Actress Naomi Scott, recently seen in as the Pink Ranger in the Power Rangers reboot, will portray Princess Jasmine.

Massoud is a largely unknown actor with just 17 credits to his name on IMDB, including several episodes of the Canadian TV show "Open Heart". Ritchie did not confirm or deny the rumor when he was asked in May about Smith's alleged role, E!

He also confirmed a few other live-action projects. He initially took interest in taking on the lead role in Dumbo, but later backed out due to scheduling conflicts. The role was made famous by the late Robin Williams who voiced the hilarious character.

There's no word yet as to which actor will join the Aladdin cast as Jafar.

The film was reportedly struggling to find a suitable actor to play Aladdin.

Will Smith is playing Genie in Disney's "Aladdin". All three actors were rumored for their respective roles in recent months, but they've now been officially announced as part of the cast of Ritchie's Disney fairytale adaptation.

The live-actionAladdin movie is set to start filming this summer and wrap filming in early 2018.
