Delta Publicly Apologizes to Ann Coulter, Will Refund Her $30

Delta Airlines hit back at Conservative commentator Ann Coulter who launched a two-day Twitter tirade after she was booted out of a seat with extra leg room on a Delta flight. She also compared Delta employees to prison guards and the former East German secret police.

Following Delta flight 2852 from New York-LGA to West Palm Beach on July 15, political analyst Ann Coulter took to social media to complain about a seat mix-up she experienced. Coulter claims that she pre-booked a specific seat and paid a premium ($30) for extra legroom.

"We are aware of the customer's comments and we're reaching out to her to address the complaints", Anthony Black of Delta said, adding that the airline was still looking into the situation.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter seems to have done something no one thought possible: she has encouraged people to defend an airline that was only making headlines for its unsatisfactory customer service and inappropriate behavior. He did not elaborate on what was discussed. If Delta had approached Coulter and said, "This young woman would like to sit with her family, and three seats weren't available together - do you mind moving?" perhaps Coulter would have willingly done so.

She continued berating the airline in a stream of tweets, calling Delta the "suckiest" airline and suggesting a new motto for the airline. "Each of our employees is charged with treating each other as well as our customers with dignity and respect".

Did Coulter overreact? Should a company still be held accountable to offer consumers what they paid for?

Delta expects mutual civility throughout the entire travel experience. In April 2005, it was reported in a number of blogs and apparently verified on Ann Coulter's own website page that she was furious for being singled out by security at the Harrisburg, PA Airpot. Animal handler? Stasi policeman?

According to Coulter, a Delta employee "snatched" the ticket from her hands and allegedly demanded that she move to another seat without "explanation, compensation or apology".

Previously, when United Airlines drew criticisms for the rough-handling of a passenger and carrying him off the aircraft, Coulter was seemingly unsympathetic.
