Donald Trump tweets mock video of him beating 'CNN logo man'

President Donald Trump is continuing his feud against the media.

On ABC News' "This Week", Navarro said Trump's Sunday morning tweet of a video of himself attacking a figure with CNN's logo superimposed on their face was "unacceptable".

The clip appears to be edited from a 2007 incident at WrestleMania, where Trump "attacked" wrestling icon Vince McMahon.

CNN said in a statement, "It is a sad day when the president of the United States encourages violence against reporters".

And CNN responded with a fiery tweet of its own on Sunday: "CNN statement responding to the president: "We will keep doing our jobs. He should start doing his", a CNN spokeswoman told me".

"I don't think it's a surprise he fights fire with fire", Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. "If anything, quite the contrary.' - @SHSanders45 6/29/17".

"I love how CNN looks to #1A [First Amendment] as a justification to not uphold basic journalistic integrity or an ethical standard #FakeNews", Eric Trump tweeted on Sunday.

The clip was submitted to a Donald Trump forum on the social media site Reddit four days ago, where it became one of the most popular posts.

"Congratulations /u/HanAssholeSolo", one redditor wrote, "your dankery has been tweeted by the President of the United States".

Mr Trump asserted that the media "has destroyed themselves because they went too far", adding that "instead of being subtle and smart they used a hatchet".

On Thursday, Mr Trump attracted bipartisan condemnation over tweets in which he called co-host of the MSNBC Morning Joe program Mika Brzezinski "low I.Q. Crazy Mika", and said she was "bleeding badly from a face-lift" when she visited his Mar-A-Lago estate around New Year's Eve.

At a Saturday evening "Celebrate Freedom" concert honoring veterans, Mr. Trump continued the battle, promising an adoring crowd that America would "win again" and prompting cheers with attacks on the news media.

Homeland Security Adviser Thomas Bossert pushed back against the accusations, saying that the video showing Trump choking the representation of CNN could never be construed as a threat.

This latest video follows several days when Trump has been especially aggressive on social media regarding his disdain for certain members of the media.

Throughout his campaign and into his presidency, Trump has disparaged news outlets, such as The New York Times and CNN.

The President has recently defended his use of social media, which he says "is modern day Presidential". "But we will not let them".
