Duterte: No compromise with Maute terrorists

Duterte: No compromise with Maute terrorists

President Rodrigo Duterte promised to destroy the militants in Marawi and said the Philippines was now dealing with "a very risky situation" due to young Muslims inspired by the "mass insanity" of Isis.

Other religious organizations, including the Sisters Association in Mindanao (SAMIN) and the Sowing of Seeds for Peace also expressed their criticism against the handling of the Maute Group attack in Marawi City. They have corrupted Islam.

"President Duterte took office promising to protect human rights, but has instead spent his first year in office as a boisterous instigator for an unlawful killing campaign", Phelim Kine, the group's deputy Asia director, said in a statement. In the same speech yesterday, Arroyo said Duterte "has shown awesome leadership and resolve" in the programmes that he aimed to do.

In a speech in Davao City on Thursday night, Duterte said the Marawi siege would "end in a matter of days".

He said the Mautes were able to stockpile their weapons in preparation for their bid to establish an Islamic State caliphate in Mindanao.

"I get to read the so many soldiers and police who are dying", he added. "I am the commander-in-chief", he said.

"Terrorism, I can not accept it. It is more about local grudges", said the source.

This brings the death toll from the month-long clashes to 429.

"The President's invitation for global partners to aid in the rebuilding is not synonymous with humanitarian crisis", Abella said during the Mindanao Hour press briefing in Davao City Friday morning. Government has also recovered 382 firearms from terrorists.

"I am today with a heavy heart because by the time I reach home, nandoon na 'yung papel na briefer for the day and andoon na 'yung narratives", he said.

The President said he was nursing "a heavy heart" knowing that so numerous government's soldiers and police were dying in the Marawi siege.

"I have this guilt feelings but this is my job".

"My only consoling issue there is that I have to do it because it is my constitutional duty to preserve and defend the Filipino people", he added.

So therefore it is important that we just trust the president because he knows what we don't know and he knows what he's doing.
