Atletico Madrid ready to go over £40m for exiled Diego Costa

Atletico Madrid ready to go over £40m for exiled Diego Costa

Diego Costa has remarkably claimed he is being treated like a "criminal" by Chelsea. Costa must prove his match fitness and he must put himself for contention for the first team.

Costa faces a fine up to £300k after failing to report for training TWO WEEKS ago.

Costa is in exile and refusing to train with the Under-23s, opting to stay with his family in Brazil for now instead.

"But if they go and buy a No 9, and were to go and get Virgil van Dijk as well, I think that is a good trade for Coutinho".

Costa stated: 'I am not a criminal and I am not in the wrong here. They send messages saying "I miss you" and that they love me.I am always talking with the boys - particularly Cesc Fabregas, David Luiz and Willian.

Unable to say goodbye to fans who saw him develop over 10.5 years and 381 appearances at Chelsea, the former FK Lyn starlet eventually left through the backdoor on a free transfer.

Diego Costa is not in Antonio Conte's plans at Chelsea this season, and has now revealed what Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho told him during a personal phone call.

The Blues declined to respond to Costa's comments and Conte has recently been reluctant to discuss the player, describing the situation as belonging in "the past".

CHELSEA are set to embark on a spending spree after their disappointing loss to Burnley. I didn't want to leave. I said, "If the manager doesn't want me, I want to go to Atletico Madrid".

It is understood Chelsea have made four demands of the player if he is to restore relations that have been badly soured even before this weekend's interview.

"Surely he's got to come back here, so if the manager changes his mind, he's there".

He told The Daily Mail: "They gave me a week extra off but, since then, it's fines all the way".

Their fury at unpopular coach Raymond Domenech had been provoked by the sending home of the player nicknamed "The Incredible Sulk".

"My desire is to go to Atletico".

"If the manager doesn't want me, I want to go to Atletico Madrid". I am not going to do that.

While there's obvious tension between player and manager, it appears that the striker still has friends in the Stamford Bridge dressing room.

"That was a punishment for the attitude I had shown and for not behaving in the best way", he added.
