Marseille president admits interest in 'powerful and athletic' Celtic striker Moussa Dembele

Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud has admitted that the club are targeting Celtic forward Dembele - despite Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers stating that 21-year-old wouldn't leave this summer.

The Spain global striker is now in self-imposed exile in his native Brazil and is refusing to return to Stamford Bridge after falling out with manager Antonio Conte.

The Chelsea striker has kept away from Stamford Bridge after being told that he has no future at the club and has been trying to force through a move to Atletico Madrid.

"I can't guarantee anything on what is a sensitive, hard subject", Eyraud told SFR Sport as reported by Goal. "He would fit in very well at OM".

"He has a hard contractual situation, but we have shown that we can move well in the market".

Marseille were active in the current transfer window, signing Florian Thauvin, Luiz Gustavo, Valere Germain and Clinton N'Jie. If a player ticks all the boxes, then we showed that we were able to do the transactions, said Jacques.

"It must at least meet certain conditions".

"I assure nothing [to the fans] for the end of the market".

"I can't guarantee anything on what is a sensitive, hard subject", he further told SFR Sport.

"It's not a secret that we are actively looking for a striker".
