Thousands across world report Facebook and Instagram outage

Social networking platform Facebook and its photo-sharing service Instagram was down on Saturday evening. Here is a compilation of some of the best tweets to come out of the trending #facebookdown on Twitter this morning.

Facebook appears to be suffering a major technical problem.

Others problems including trouble logging in or loading pictures, while some were unable to use the Facebook Messenger app.

A global Facebook outage greeted its users this morning with a "down for maintenance" or a server error when they attempted to access the popular website.

Shortly after 7am, service could be seen being restored.

Facebook is down - and we don't want to over-react, but it is definitely time to panic.

DownDetector.com, a site that monitors online outages, reported more than 2,500 users having an issue with Facebook.

At its peak there were more than 1,500 reports of people experiencing problems getting onto the website. More than 3,000 of its users could not access the site today.
