Wyndham Championship: Henrik Stenson wins from Ollie Schniederjans

Wyndham Championship: Henrik Stenson wins from Ollie Schniederjans

Ollie Schniederjans shot a 64 to finish second. "Happy to be the one, you know, coming out on top".

"It is a good golf course for me, not a bombers' course", Love said.

The top-ranked player in the field, Stenson relished his role as the tournament's alpha male with most of the big boys taking the week off before the start of the tour playoffs on Thursday. This was his 13th and he is guaranteed at least two tournaments in the upcoming four-tournament playoffs.

Stenson's 22-under score topped the previous tournament record of 21-under 259 belonging to Kim Si-Woo and Pettersson. The 2011 tournament victor is in good position to make a Sunday charge. He has climbed to sixth place on the Official World Golf Ranking.

"It's all about how you finish, I guess", Stenson said. That magic came on 15 when he signed for three on a par 5.

Norris began the day one shot behind overnight leader Wade Ormsby after posting a 70 on Saturday.

Schniederjans was the only contender with a chance at the end.

Associated Press Henrik Stenson won the Wyndham Championship, closing with a 6-under 64 for a 1-stroke victory in the final event of the PGA Tour regular season.

"I really thought I had a two-shot advantage", Stenson said.

Stenson was at even par through his first 12 holes. He rolled his birdie attempt past then calmly sank the victor from short range. And Norris took the outright lead when he rolled in a ten-foot birdie putt at the third to get to 11 under before picking up another at the next. He played in the pairing in front of Stenson.

For the second straight day, he had four birdies in a five-hole stretch of the back nine.

The first of those dropped him into a four-way tie with Schniederjans, Stenson and Armour. After a par, he birdied the next three holes to get to five-under for the day.

Finishing in solo third was Webb Simpson, who carded a three-under 67 to finish at 18-under 262. Ryan Armour and Rory Sabbatini shot 64s and joined Kevin Na (68), who played the last round with Stenson, as finishers at 17 under to share fourth place. Playing out of the final twosome, he hit eight (of 14) fairways and 15 GIR, losing 0.299 strokes off-the-tee and 0.272 approaching-the-green.

NOTES: Roberto Castro had a hole-in-one on No. 3 and Ben Crane and Martin Flores aced the 16th hole in the final round.

"I got to 16 and hit a attractive shot,"Crane said".

"I just got to keep it going on the back-9 tomorrow and like I did - or two years ago and get off to a hot start and keep it going". "I hit it flawless, hoping it was the right number and watched it go in". Flores went from 139 to 118.
