All-Star Justin Upton on the move to the Angels

All-Star Justin Upton on the move to the Angels

At that point, they had lost four more games than they had won.

This is a good way to start out for the team as they do have their struggles. The Angels mean business and aren't going to go down quietly over the season's last month.

Plus, next season, they start things off with an outfield of (probably) Upton, Trout, and Calhoun.

However this season they seem to be at an okay place.

Verlander has always been one of the game's best, though inconsistent over the last couple seasons as he's learned how to pitch with diminishing stuff.

"What I'm excited about is being back into playoff contention and trying to help the Angels get to where they want to go", Upton said. LA scored five runs in the seventh inning to complete the victory.

Left field has been a problematic spot for the Angels for several years, with oft-injured Josh Hamilton leading a long list of players who couldn't produce at the position. The outfielder also added 181 RBI, 162 runs scored and a.833 OPS. He showed how risky he is when with his team. September call-ups are happening and teams are signing players with enormous contracts with the goal of winning the ring.

Lastly, Infielder Cliff Pennington hit the grand slam to seal the victory in the seventh.

And with the Twins dealing with a hamate injury to outfielder Byron Buxton, who has helped propel them to second-half relevance and the wild card spot they have a tenuous hold on, now is the time for the Angels to upgrade. The Astros lead the Major League Baseball in runs but with some injuries to their starting staff along the way, it was clear they needed one more front line arm to go with Lance McCullers and Dallas Kuechel to lock down the best record in the AL and for the playoffs. The Angels went on to win 18 of their next 28 games to vault themselves into playoff contention. Then hopefully all the rest works out from there. Neither has appeared in the postseason since 2013, and they're both eager to play in the World Series for the first time.
