Jaguar E-Type Zero EV Revealed

Jaguar E-Type Zero EV Revealed

Jaguar Land Rover recently announced its commitment to produce both hybrid and fully-electric versions of every vehicle in its range by 2020.

And it has chosen the Tech Fest in London to show its plan of action, announcing it will offer an electrified powertrain on every model starting from 2020, and debuting an autonomous concept with a steering wheel that acts as a personal concierge.

From that year, drivers will be able to buy any Jaguar auto or Land Rover sport utility vehicles as an electric, plug-in hybrid or so-called mild hybrid, chief executive of JLR, which is owned by India's Tata, said. "Our first fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE, goes on sale next year", Speth confirmed. No other reproduction or distribution is permitted without prior written consent.

The electric auto has been built based on the 1968 Series 1.5 Jaguar E-type Roadster, and races from 0 to 62 miles per hour time of just 5.5 seconds.

Aside from making a commitment to an electric future, Jaguar also showcased the E-Type Zero, a classic auto retrofitted with a modern electric powertrain.

The 1968 sports auto was restored and reworked at Jaguar's Classic Works facility and can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 kph) in 5.5 seconds.

For now the E-Type Zero remains a prototype vehicle, but there's serious production intent if customer interest is strong enough.

Jaguar Future Type Concept

Demand for electric vehicles continues to rise sharply.

New electric models from Jaguar's past, present and future have been on display at the Tech Fest event, highlighting the brand's electric intentions.

Britain said that it will ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2040 as part of an effort to cut pollution. That's either fully electric, plug-in hybrid or "mild" hybrid. It is not just the "key" to your vehicle, it's your membership card for our on-demand service club.

"We are not just preparing for the future but delivering it".

The company also displayed a vision of a vehicle from 2040 and beyond.

Past and future are holding hands at Jaguar Land Rover as the company has just re-launched its iconic E-type 1968 with a twist: it comes complete with electric engine. Now we can add Jaguar and Land Rover to that list.

At the heart of the auto is Sayer, an "intelligent" steering wheel that it is claimed will revolutionise the way drivers live their lives.
