Theresa May scolds Trump for speculating about London terror attack

Theresa May scolds Trump for speculating about London terror attack

After a bomb exploded on a train during rush hour in London on Friday, President Donald Trump suggested the USA needs a "tougher and more specific" travel ban as a response.

Trump then added, "The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!"

The tweets followed breaking news that a bomb was detonated on a London tube train on Friday that injured at least 20, including children.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday pushed back against efforts to rein in his administration's ban on people entering the United States from six Muslim-majority countries that also limits refugees, saying the controversial ban should be even wider.

But May dismissed the speculative tweet from Trump that claimed Scotland Yard had the so-called "bucket bomber" in terror attack on a London Underground train in their "sights".

British Prime Minister Theresa May said her "thoughts are with those injured".

"I spoke with a wonderful woman, British Prime Minster Theresa May, this morning and relayed America's deepest sympathy as well as our absolute commitment to eradicate the terrorists from our planet", Trump said.

Trump's tough talk came a day after he drew conservative criticism for pursuing an agreement with Democrats on young immigrants who had been living in the country illegally.

President Donald Trump is calling a fire at a London subway station another attack "by a loser terrorist" and suggesting police there may have missed an opportunity to prevent it.

"Another attack in London by a loser terrorist". Trump said on Twitter.

Unsurprisingly, British leaders- who have to actually deal with United Kingdom terrorist attacks, rather than just use them to build political capital- aren't too pleased. "The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better!"

Mr. Trump also tweeted that his administration had already "made more progress" against the Islamic State than President Barack Obama's administration had in eight years.

He tweeted, "Must be proactive & nasty!"

A senior USA government official cast doubt on whether Trump was privy to information over whether the bomber in the west London attack was known or not.

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to hear oral arguments to decide the travel ban's constitutionality in October.

The court may not have much to decide by the time that happens.
