Modi Shares The Stage With Bihar CM Nitish Kumar At Patna Univ

"It would have been better for the university if the crores of rupees spent on PM Modi's trip had been ploughed into the university", he said.

"There is no state in the country where one does not find a Patna University alumnus among the top five bureaucrats".

PM Narendra Modi also spoke about the current and former education system of India.

Hailing his government's decision of giving autonomy to Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Modi said, "It is for the first time that the IIMs are out of government control and have been professionally opened up". He also urged universities to move from conventional teaching to innovative learning. "This is a big opportunity for them and they would make the best use", he said.

Modi said both students and universities face challenge due to technological intervention and there was need to "un-learn, de-learn and re-learn". The recent Antyodaya expresses flagged off will also improve connectivity between Bihar, eastern India and other parts.

"But today while welcoming PM Modi to "his Patna University", he tweeted, "...even I got an invitation, alas very late and with a very short notice...delayed by the "more loyal than the King's people" involved in the affair. In that context, India has to make its place in the world, he added.

For the Janata Dal United that had dumped Lalu Yadav and resurrected its alliance with the BJP in July, PM Modi's visit was an occasion to demonstrate that Chief Minister Kumar's swapping of old allies - Lalu Yadav and the Congress - had earned Bihar the centre's goodwill that would benefit the state too.

Modi recounted how an earlier Chief Minister of Bihar (in reference to Lalu Prasad) would "dissuade from the construction of roads on the plea that roads were meant for only well-off people with motor vehicles, and not poor".

He said when the country celebrates the 75th anniversary of Independence day in 2022, he wants to see Bihar standing among the list of prosperous states. I bow to this land of Bihar. "A good leader, while taking credit for the good works done by his administration, also does not shy away from taking blames for his failures", Kumar said at the release of a book on the three years of Modi in power written by Uay Mahurkar at a function held at Rabindra Bhawan in Patna.

Speaking at the centenary celebrations, Modi applauded the students of the university saying, "In every state, the senior level of the civil services has officers who have studied in Patna University". "In Delhi, I interact with so many officials, many of whom belong to Bihar", the Prime Minister said. "This university has nurtured students who have contributed greatly to the nation", he added.

Modi said that the Centre has changed the fate of Bihar by launching so many schemes and thanked the Bijhar government to adopt the schemes introduced by the Centre.
