Cong, PAAS deadlock: Hardik Patel to make important announcement

"We have compromised and agreed on the issues that had been acting as obstacles since the last meeting", ANI quoted Congress's Gujarat unit chief Bharat Singh Solanki, as saying.

The list was held up due to the hectic negotiations going on between the Congress and PAAS, which were finally resolved with the deal sealed in Ahmedabad.

In 2012 Gujarat Assembly Elections, Congress won 57 out of 182 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered victory on 119 seats. The details of the Congress' proposal to the PAAS is not yet out. Patidar community can not be cheated by Congress. PAAS convenor Hardik Patel had categorically said that they would extend their support to the Congress in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections only if their demands were met.

While the PAAS, led by Mr Patel, had demanded around 20 seats from the Congress, Mr Thakore, who has recently joined the Congress, has demanded 12 seats. While the Congress has released a list of 77 names, it is expected to come out with another list on Monday. The filing of nominations for the polls began on November 14.

The saffron party has already declared its two lists of candidates for the first phase, fielding 106 candidates so far.

The counting of the votes will be held on December 18.

The first phase of the polls in Gujarat will cover 89 constituencies in 19 districts while the second phase will cover 93 constituencies spread across 14 districts. When he was quizzed about the formula, the Congress leader refused to divulge anything. "The BJP's organisational penetration in Gujarat could well be several notches higher than what the CPI (M) enjoyed in its hey days in West Bengal", a senior party leader said.

Bamania had claimed that Solanki initially had a brief meeting with PAAS leaders in Delhi on Friday and told them that there would be a detailed meeting again after the Congress Central Election Committee's meeting got over.
