Galaxy S8 Beta Program Leaks, Oreo Update Round The Corner?

Galaxy S8 Beta Program Leaks, Oreo Update Round The Corner?

After rumors, confirmations, and last minute leaks, the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program has been formally launched by Samsung today. However, as part of Samsung Experience 9.0, the company has also started rolling out the developer version of Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

In the USA, eligible devices include locked units from Sprint and T-Mobile networks, unlocked devices, and the open-market version. Similarly, Enterprise Firmware Over the Air (E-FOTA) lets admins remotely schedule software updates for the entire fleet of devices. Users in the US and South Korea need not fret about being left out because the beta is scheduled to go live in your regions from today as part of the first phase. In South Korea, it includes devices on SKT, KT, LGU+, while in the United Kingdom it's open to those with unlocked models.

Samsung's Experience 9.0 beta for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is based on Android Oreo. It also comes with a choice of biometric authentication methods and Samsung's defense-grade Knox security platform.

Samsung itself hasn't listed the changes introduced with Experience 9.0, but SamMobile has provided a full changelog of new features. The freezes are triggered while using certain apps including Google Chrome or the Google app. Android Police has put up a list of known instances that trigger the freezing. This allows some Galaxy phone owners to test and try new features before they are released commercially.

It's tempting, especially given that we don't have an official release date for the Galaxy S8 Android Oreo update. Besides, Samsung's homeland South Korea is also among the favourable regions to get the update in the first wave of the rollout.
