Mueller Reportedly Has Enough Evidence to Arrest Michael Flynn-and His Son

Mueller reportedly has enough evidence to press charges against Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, the network reported Sunday.

Mr Flynn served for 24 days as Mr Trump's national security adviser but was sacked after it was discovered he had misrepresented his contacts with Sergey Kislyak, then the Russian ambassador to Washington, in a conversation with Vice President Michael Pence.

However, the very next day it was announced that Mueller planned to file the first set of charges in his investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election, in a sign the probe would likely continue well into 2018.

NBC reported that federal investigators will speak to several witnesses over the next few days looking at the elder Flynn's lobbying efforts, whether he laundered money and whether he lied to investigators.

Sources familiar with the investigation told NBC News that Mr Mueller was putting pressure on Mr Flynn following the indictment and arrest of Paul Manafort, Mr Trump's former campaign chairman, last month.

Mr Gullen is a rival of Recep Erdogan, the Turkish President.

Flynn's son worked closely with his father and could be indicted at the same time as his dad.

Mueller's team also subpoenaed the lobbying firm SGR LLC in August after Flynn Intel Group hired the firm to ostensibly "promote a good business climate in Turkey", The Washington Post reported.

Flynn raised eyebrows when he wrote an op-ed for The Hill, published on November 8, alleging Gulen helmed a "vast global network" that had "all the right markings to fit the description of a unsafe sleeper terror network".

And having Flynn's son over a barrel could get him there.

It's not clear if the request came from the State Department, as is normal, or from Flynn. Flynn later retroactively registered as a foreign lobbyist this year.

NBC News did not receive comment from the special counsel's spokesperson. Flynn's son traveled with his father during the campaign and transition.
