Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks taking inspiration from Gareth Bale

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks taking inspiration from Gareth Bale

Mauricio Pochettino is "confident" Harry Kane will be fit to face Real Madrid in the Champions League after training with the Tottenham squad on Tuesday.

Spurs held Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu on matchday three, meaning they sit top of Group H ahead of the meeting at Wembley.

England global Kane missed Tottenham's 1-0 loss to Premier League rivals Manchester United on Saturday due to a hamstring injury.

"We are feeling good and ready to perform well against a great team in Tottenham Hotspur", the former Real player told reporters at Spurs' temporary Wembley home, which they are using while they build a new stadium at their White Hart lane ground. "But it's not my feeling, it's Harry Kane's feeling", Pochettino said. The most important thing is to keep working hard.

"It's not easy to win every game when you look at the teams you know they are very good".

Winks, a 14-year-old supporter watching on at the time, hopes to now follow in the steps of Bale by making a big impression if given the nod to feature against the defending champions at Wembley Stadium tomorrow night. We're going to go into the game expecting of ourselves that we can do it and we're looking forward to it. "We always want to win and show that we can manage the pressure". We can only analyse the game they have played in the Champions League and 15 days ago in the Bernabéu. It's not just me saying that, the results speak for themselves. Freedom, because that is the game that we like to play, we are players and we love to play football.

"We have one day more to test him, but I think maybe it can be possible that he will be available tomorrow".

Asked to explain his side's problems, Madrid defender Marcelo claimed a lack of motivation for the more mundane La Liga fixtures might be to blame. I think that game gave us a lot of confidence going into this game, and as well the other games this season.
