Bryan Singer fired from Queen biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for alleged unprofessional behavior

Bryan Singer fired from Queen biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for alleged unprofessional behavior

"Bryan Singer is no longer the director of 'Bohemian Rhapsody, ' " a Twentieth Century Fox Film spokesperson told the Daily News. Before Thanksgiving, Malek confronted Singer about being unprofessional, however it did not get physical and according to the trade, the two settled their differences.

A source told The News that Singer was sacked for "a pattern of unreliable behavior on set" and that the studio wanted another director to finish the movie.

THR has a detailed breakdown of the behind-the-scenes troubles on the London set of Bohemian Rhapsody, where Singer failed multiple times to actually show up for work.

Many thought this reasoning seemed fishy, as reports said that Singer and actor Rami Malek, who plays Freddie Mercury, feuded on set. THR remarks Singer's extended absence as the "final straw" for the studio, which led to his termination today. The director was reportedly warned by the studio prior to production beginning about his professionalism, but tensions eventually boiled over into a almost physical altercation between the director and the film's star that resulted in Singer allegedly throwing something. The two have apparently patched things up now, but one insider told the Reporter that Singer is dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder because of the set's tense atmosphere. In some instances, the movie's cinematographer, Thomas Newton Sigel, had to take the directing reins in Singer's absence. The studio is expected to name a new director in the coming weeks.

Singer, 52, is best known for directing the "X-Men" films and "The Usual Suspects".

It's not the first time someone high-profile has left the project.

Bohemian Rhapsody is now scheduled to hit theaters in December 2018.
