Newspaper review: Palestinian succumbs to wounds sustained by Israeli fire

Two Palestinians were killed in renewed clashes with Israeli occupying forces, Gaza's Health Ministry said Friday, amid continued clashes in the occupied lands over US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Israeli soldiers opened fire on protesters with live bullets, tear gas and stun grenades.

"U.S. vetoes U.N. resolution against Jerusalem decision" (Reading Eagle, Dec. 19) presented anti-U.S. boastful views of unnamed sources and of a Palestinian ambassador, but it omitted even one sentence of comment from our excellent ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley.

Locals told Ma'an that 24-year-old Zakariya al-Kafarneh was killed after being shot with live ammunition by Israeli forces during clashes in eastern Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip.

A Palestinian youth dressed as Santa Claus was also injured in the legs with live bullets during clashes in southern Gaza and was transferred to the European Hospital for treatment.

Osama Najar, spokesman for the health ministry in the West Bank, said they had seen protests in more locations than on previous Fridays.

This footage shows Palestinian Red Crescent rescuers.

The army said in a statement that around 1,700 "rioters are hurling firebombs and rocks and rolling burning tyres".

Dahdouh's death brings to 15 the number of Palestinians killed in clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank and Gaza Strip after the U.S. move on December 6.

Their deaths raise to 12 the number of Palestinians killed in violence in Gaza and the West Bank since President Donald Trump's December 6 recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Two others were killed in an Israeli air strike on Gaza earlier in the month. It is one more example of the United Nations doing more harm than good in addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
